    Position Profile

    This opportunity is available in  Dublin, Ireland or Philadelphia, US or Palo Alto, US

    The Director, Project Management is responsible for providing experienced leadership and supervision and mentoring to the Technical Operations facing Project Managers assigned to CMC development and commercial product manufacturing teams within Technical Operations.  The Director Project Management is responsible for ensuring that the PMs deliver on their responsibilities to Technical Operations as well as adhere to all principles and processes of the PMO and any relevant Tech Ops governance processes. The individual will be a key point of contact for Technical Operations Leadership as related to CMC development project team and product team management. In addition the individual will provide project management leadership to selected CMC projects or commercial products to ensure successful and timely completion of the project/product goals and objectives. The individual will also participate in Project Management operational and process improvement initiatives.

    Major duties and responsibilities:

    Lead, mentor and manage assignment of Technical Operations facing Project Managers to support achievement of project and commercial product manufacturing goals, department goals and corporate objectives Consistently and proactively identify training, exposure and stretch opportunities for each PM team member.  Ensure the individual development goals are clearly articulated within an individual’s development plan (IDP) to support Jazz objectives as well as team member personal objectives Ensure each PM delivers at a high level toward their responsibilities  for their assigned projects/products per the Jazz Technical Operations cross-functional team charters Provide project management expertise to selected project or product teams Ensure team members accurately and exclusively use PMO approved systems and tools to manage their projects and enable internal project team member visibility as well as cross project operational and strategic reporting Ensure clear, articulate and consistent delivery of team member project content outputs including but not limited to presentations, meeting agendas/minutes, project tracker content, project plans / high level gantts and monthly status reports Partner with PMO Leadership to support and improve PMO planning and reporting capabilities, capacity planning, budget/LE planning, quarterly and portfolio reviews as well as any other existing or new processes Drive PMO process development / improvement initiatives as well as support and/or lead PMO responsibilities as a partner to Technical Operations Create an environment that fosters team member success and retention.  Responsible for performance management and recruitment as required (permanent or contract) Support other duties as required or assigned

    Education and Knowledge Requirements:

    Education Required:

    Bachelor’s Degree in a science or healthcare discipline

    Education Preferred:

    Master’s Degree

    Experience Required:

    • At least 3 years experience in leading, managing and/or mentoring and developing junior staff
    • At least 10 years of pharmaceutical drug development experience spanning all phases of global (US/EU) drug development including with significant experience in CMC aspects:
      • Comprehensive understanding of CMC development strategies and requirements across IND-BLA/NDA stages including submission and approval process
      • Working knowledge of cross-functional drug development processes and industry guidelines (FDA/ICH/EMA, cGMPs)
      • Working knowledge of Process and Analytical Development, Process Transfer, GMP Manufacturing and Testing, Process and Analytical Validation and Commercial Manufacturing
      • Experience interacting with technical functions to support and drive CMC product development
      • Strong technical/analytical skills to identify and solve problems in a fast-paced environment
      • Able to easily and quickly translate a product development strategy into an integrated CMC plan from early development through major market submission, approval and launch
    • Experience in leading global and cross functional teams
    • Understands commercial value proposition
    • Experience with contractor management
    • Able to effectively communicate with members of senior and executive management

    Soft Skills:

    • Some experience working / communicating with members of senior leadership
    • Able to communicate clearly and effectively with members of the team and leadership as an advocate for development or change
    • Approaches change with an open mind and welcomes the thoughts views and opinions of others

    Specialized Knowledge or Certifications needed:

    • Project Management Professional (PMP®) preferred

    Technical Knowledge:

    • Excellent computer software skills - Planisware, Box, SharePoint, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook

    Company/Industry Related Knowledge:

    • Experience in pharmaceutical industry
